We have just finished our first four weeks of the summer of 2009. It really has been a blast. It was hard to say goodbye yesterday. I was working with the buses and I didn't get to the fields on time. I missed our goodbye lines and I was very disappointed in that happening. I am so proud of our campers. CKCT really is a special place and I feel great sharing incredible moments of happiness with everyone.
There is still plenty of excitement ahead over the next few weeks. I am really looking forward to carnival and gold rush. They are two of my favorite activities. I know that David Salzman wants a re-match in the boxing ring. Well, I am going to retire as the undefeated champion. Plus the boxing is being replaced by another camper driven activity.
Running a camp program is sometimes like being on a roller coaster, lots of twists and turns and plenty of action. There is never a dull moment, except on Thursday of last week when I ran late into a quiet dining room towards the end of wave B. I was sitting in my usual spot at an empty table. Luckily, Danielle and Amy sang me a special song. ("All By Myself") Well, the singing was off key and dreadful. I guess the Amy/Danielle twins have some other talents. They have yet to be discovered. Stay tuned for any progress with those strange creatures. Listening to them sing was like going through a large loop and into a sudden scary dark tunnel.
The fun of CKCT will continue over the next fours weeks. I am looking forward to spending time in so many different activities. I have to bring baby Jake to a rocket launch on Friday. I am really looking forward to getting into a few more softball, basketball, and capture the flag games. Kendra, I have not forgotten about our softball challenge. I am ready for your fastball. Make sure you throw strikes. I have been so impressed about the great sportsmanship I witness everyday at camp. I love seeing how kind our campers are to each other.
I wanted to mention how great the Lamoy festival was the other Monday night. I know Chris, Paul, the SAs, and lots of other people put hours of work into the planning and running of the show. Well, your hard work paid off and the results were outstanding. Luckily the weather cooperated. All the stations were very impressive and I think everyone had a rocking good time.
On the drama front, High School Musical was really terrific. I saw the second showing and it was a blast. (Lia sorry I missed you in the first performance) Elizabeth does an amazing job at pulling these complex shows off in a short amount of time. The live music from Paul, Chris, Adam, Leo and Marisa was unbelievable. Jake, Ronan and Oaksey were super funny during the auditions. Abby did some really fancy ballet moves and of course Nigel worked his magic as only Nigel can. I was really happy and proud of all of our campers. Everyone did such a great job. It seemed like you were having so much fun. Keep up the great work and I cannot wait to take my seat for the Lion King Performance.

Week 2 @ Camp
I had put blogging on hold for a while. No excuses except that the spring is a busy time of the year. So now summer is upon us with or without the full time sunshine. So I am back to bi-weekly blogging status and hope to keep posting throughout camp and beyond.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday. The sandy shores were not an option for me, but we did have some family fun. Tod's fake invitation was just not what the doctor ordered. However, Jake did love the evening fireworks, but not the after fireworks traffic.
Week one of CKCT was amazing. It feels like the summer of 2008 just ended and after a short break we are back into all the crazy camp fun. I am really enjoying all the new camp songs people are singing this year. I am really into Baby Shark and Yo My Moms. Those two songs swim in my head all day. I love to sing Baby Shark to Baby Jake while giving him a bath. He enjoys all the hand motions, especially shark attack. Never a dry time during shark attack.
I think the summer of 2009 is going to be remembered as the summer of special events. We have so many different things happening every week. Tonight is Chutes and Ladders. I am very excited to see how this will play out. I am sure it will be a fun time for everyone.
Our second camp session is already starting next week. Water world and Apache are just around the corner. Apache is one of my favorite activities at camp. It takes hours and hours to prepare and only 40 minutes to run. It is often the most humorous time at camp. Another camp tradition is happening very soon. Our first weekend trip or WEA is just 10 days away. We are taking a large group to Hershey Park, a minor league baseball game (Yankees AAA), and a day of water excitement in the Poconos. I know everyone is very excited.
I always brag about the campers and staff of CKCT. You never let me down. I cannot think of a better group of people to be silly with during the summer. Keep up all the hard work and especially the CK smiles.
