It is hard to believe that my calendar is almost up to the day with a big turkey on it. It means that snow, and the great family holiday time is right around the corner. I tend to get a little melancholy when I think back on the summer. Luckily our 2008 reunion is coming up in a week from this Saturday. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Thanksgiving is a great time to think about all the positive things in life. I know that this is a crazy time in our lifetime with the economy being extremely fragile and our standing in the world is somewhat uncertain. It is easy to lose sight of all the wonderful things that happen every day. Think back to a crazy moment at camp or a time when your friends made you laugh like never before. Think back to when you climbed to the top of the wall for the first time or you hit that bases loaded triple. (Ricky--I knew you weren't going to catch that one) I also always remember and thank all the great staff members that make CKCT their home.
Of course Thanksgiving is a great time to be with family. Kathryn will be busy making her special mashed potatoes and delicious baked Ziti. Jake will be running through the house with his big smile plastered from ear to ear. We will have 17 people and two dogs over for Thanksgiving. I know there will be too much eating and too much football, but there will never be too many happy memories.
So I have to abuse my blog space for a little personal fun stuff. As some of you know I am a long suffering Jets fan. Well, I am a true die hard fan. You can stop laughing now. Yes the same old Jets are currently in first place. It is hard to believe. I don't want to jinx anything, but they look pretty good. I am starting to believe this could be a magical run. Now I really do not think they are going to win the Superbowl, but as a life long Jets fan there have been so few moments of joy that I am trying to relish every moment. Of course football is not all that important in the big picture of life, but seeing that it is Thanksgiving, and the Jets are in first place---well I say a little thank you for that small miracle.
Have a great holiday and I cannot wait to see you at the CKCT party on December 6th.
